Strategies for Keyword Advertising and Domain Monetization

keyword advertising and domain monetization strategies depend on your objectives and goals. A domainer often registers a domain with the objective of selling it for a profit. An affiliate marketer is interested in using a domain for a landing page to an affiliate offer or as a money site to convert either sales or actions (such as providing leads and information to an advertiser or vendor).

From a purist perspective, a domain name that is a generic term that is either commercially viable or geo-targeted is highly desirable for a domainer’s portfolio. One-word domains are deemed more valuable than multiple-words domains. Domain names that are acronyms that are short in the number of characters receive greater investment value.

For the affiliate marketer, domain names that contain keywords that are searched frequently are more attractive than domain names of generic terms. Why the difference here? When a website is constructed for search engine optimization (SEO) of a “buying” keyword, having the keyword in the domain name is favored by search engines in search rankings.

Can these two approaches or perspectives be combined? The answer is, most definitely yes.

If you are trying to get 500 articles written, do you need 500 keywords, one keyword for each article?

The best strategy is to target one keyword per article, which is ideal.  Sometimes, people have found that you could include more per article if the keywords are related but not sharing the same word or phrase.

How to phrase keywords for seo if content contains one word many times?

If you wish to phrase  keywords if one word is present more than 3 or more times in a keywords list (for example, e-business solutions, e-business applications, e-business models, e-business implementation), keep the following in mind for its effect on search engines  indexing pages…

Keyword spamming hurts search engines optimization. Place keywords in Meta title, description, keywords, alt tags and in your body text. Title e-business solutions | applications | models | implementation. The | is used instead of the word ‘and’ while similar the word e-business is not repeated more than once. You only use the | in your title tag.

How do you SEO around keywords?

Say for example I have two web pages: 1. One called, “Art Graphics Directory.” the keywords would be: art, art graphics and arts directory. 2. Another page called, “Art Graphics Articles:” keywords would be: art graphics and arts graphics articles. both pages could show up under the keyword phrase, art graphics or even art. Is this appropriate?

Yes - for your important keyword it is sometimes a good idea to have more than one page that can rank well. It gives you an opportunity to have your site appear twice when those keywords are entered.

Where can I find an advertising program where I can earn money with pay per click?

Google Adsense is Google’s advertising program that is the basis of the content network. Basically, the program lets you display Adsense ads on your site so you can earn money whenever a visitor clicks on a link, referred to as pay per click.  Google  searches your site then displays ads relational to your content.

Sometimes, the display ads are those of the competitors.  An affiliate program where you can choose keywords and the ads that show up accordingly would give you better control of the ads.

Yahoo Publishers Network’s contextual advertising program allows its publishers some control in choosing the keywords for a page, but the program is STILL in beta stage and available only to US publishers. It is not as easy to be approved as Adsense, but you can apply. It sometimes takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months to know if you’ve been accepted.

How many keywords do I need for the best SEO?

The appropriate number of keywords per page for SEO depends on what your objective is for providing content.  Some people place many keywords per page or many occurrences of a particular keyword on a page to increase keyword density.  If the content seems to be spammed with keywords, this does not help SEO.  Keyword spamming or placement of unrelated keywords in the metatags does not improve SEO either.

Google’s advice to webmasters on placement of metatags is: A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metatag which should consist of no more than 65 characters separated by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name. The second metatag is the “Description” which is usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which best describes one’s goods and services. And the very last category - “Keywords” are also somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. “Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory.
